Diatomaceous Earth filters
are the second most common swimming pool filter. There are two different types; pressure and
vacuum. Both are surface type filters, which require a fresh charge D.E. powder
after each back wash. They utilize are series of cloth covered grids that support
the D.E. filtration process. Similar to a sand filter, the D.E.

Sand filters

countries. It is a permanent media, depth type filter. It works by trapping dirt in
the voids in the grains of sand. The collected dirt is then cleansed from the system
